Internationally focused and locally relevant, our Chartered Institute of Professional Development (CIPD) accredited Global Online masters in International Human Resource Management has been designed to take your HR career to the next level, wherever you are in the world. 

The course is grounded in the latest research that has a real impact on human resource management, with close links to Manchester Metropolitan University’s Centre for People and Performance. As one of the largest hubs of its type in the UK, the centre conducts independent research in partnership with a wide range of organisations to explore the challenges of managing, leading and developing people on a global scale.

Delivered by Manchester Metropolitan’s multi-award winning Business School, the course has flexibility and student support at its heart, giving you the freedom to balance study with your existing work, life and family commitments.

Course details

From studying the effect of globalisation on multinational corporations and discovering how human resource management can have an impact on the bottom line, to attracting and retaining top talent and increasing employee engagement, this unique online HR masters will give you the skills you need to advance your career both locally and internationally.

A focus on vocational assessment means you will be able to draw on your experience and complete ‘real world’ workplace projects throughout the programme, putting your learning into practice.

There are four intakes annually for this course, with programmes starting in January, May, September and November.

Elective units:

  • Performance or Reward Management (15 units)

Dissertation and assessment (60 units)

As part of the Global Online MSc in Human Resource Management programme, you’ll be required to produce a 15,000-word dissertation. The course is vocational in assessment, which means you’ll also be able to draw on your experience and complete ‘real world’ projects within the workplace throughout.

This course meets the advanced professional standards set by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). It is accredited by CIPD and gives full exemption from their level 7 Advanced Diploma in HRM.

The course will enable you to distinguish yourself from the competition by demonstrating a combination of commitment, knowledge and skills. You will gain a CIPD qualification and be able to contribute an international perspective to organisations – something which is relevant in an increasingly global labour market.

Entry requirements

To enrol in the course, you will need the following:

  • A UK honours degree (2:2 or above) or an international equivalent
  • OR A minimum of 3 years relevant experience will be considered on a case by case basis
  • If you’re applying with non-UK qualifications, you can find further information for international students on our international website

English language requirements: 

Applicants whose first language is not English (and whose first degree was not taught in English) are required to produce evidence of English language proficiency. We provide a FREE Pearson English test to all applicants if required  which can be requested from your enrolment advisor during the application process.

Credit for prior learning:

If you have previously studied a CIPD accredited course or programme before, you may be eligible for an accelerated study route with exemptions granted for some modules.

Studying online

Our online masters is designed to work around your work and life commitments. It can be completed within two years at a pace that suits you, with a recommended study week of up to 15 hours.

Study wherever and whenever - all you need is a laptop and an internet connection. Using our Virtual Learning Environment  you will enjoy a programme of highly interactive live online seminars and presentations and have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of group tasks with your fellow students across the globe.

How to apply

Step One: Register your interest

If you would like to apply for the course simply provide your details in the adjacent form.

Step Two: Consultation and eligibility

Your dedicated Enrolment Advisor will be in contact to arrange an initial pre-admission consultation. During this they will answer any questions you have and confirm if you meet the entry requirements for the programme. If you do they will send you a link to our online application portal.

Step Three: Online application and decision

You will need to upload some key documents and submit your application via the online portal. Our Admissions Team will then assess your application and make a decision, usually within five working days of all required documents being uploaded. 

Step Four: Accepting your offer

If you have been accepted onto the course you will be sent an offer which you will be able to accept via the online portal. Your Enrolment Advisor will then send your Manchester Metropolitan University Student ID along with a link to the payment portal. In order to confirm your place on the course, you’ll be required to pay for your first module prior to the payment deadline. 

Step Five: Induction

Once payment has been received you will be introduced to your dedicated Student Success Advisor who will take you through the induction process and start the course.
