Optional units:
Optional units are normally subject to a minimum of 12 students. Where fewer than 12 students choose an optional unit, all students will normally be required to study the same unit.
Dissertation (60 credits)
As part of the online International Human Resource Management masters programme, you’ll be required to produce a 15,000-word dissertation. This piece of individual work can be used to inform research in an industry or sector that is aligned to your management career aspirations and must be on an International Human Resource Management topic.

English language requirements:
Applicants whose first language is not English (and whose first degree was not taught in English) are required to produce evidence of English language proficiency.
Overseas applicants will require IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any category, or an equivalent accepted English qualification. Accepted English qualifications can be viewed here.

Our online CIPD accredited masters is designed to work around your work and life commitments. It can be completed in two years with a recommended study week of up to 15 hours.
With distance learning, you can study wherever and whenever – all you need is a laptop and an internet connection.

The MSc International Human Resource Management comprises 180 credits. Students are normally expected to study 90 credits per year.
The programme is delivered on a continuous basis and units are scheduled sequentially. The order that units are delivered varies depending on the intake start date, although Research Methods in Human Resource Management and Dissertation will normally be the final units studied. All units are 15-credits with the exception of the 60-credit Dissertation.
Each 15-credit unit will normally be delivered over a 7-week teaching period. Weeks 1 to 6 comprise taught input. Week 7 provides students with an opportunity to consolidate learning before undertaking assessment towards the end of the week. The Dissertation unit is normally 28 weeks. There is normally a one-week Study Break between every unit.

Study and assessment breakdown
10 credits equate to 100 hours of study, which is a combination of live seminars, discussion boards and independent study. A Masters qualification typically comprises of 180 credits, a PgDip 120 credits, and a PgCert 60 credits. The exact composition of your study time and assessments for the course will vary according to your option choice and style of learning, but it could be:

Anneke joined Manchester Metropolitan University as a Lecturer in September 2021 and currently teaches on the HR in Context unit.
Although passionate about all things HR, Anneke is especially interested in topics relating to diversity and inclusion.
She also acts as a supervisor for the International Human Resource Management dissertations and, in line with her research and teaching interests, is particularly open to supervising students investigating issues surrounding the work-family interface and gender.
Senior Lecturer Organisational Behaviour, Global Online MSc International Human Resource Management
Andrew Rowe is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School and has taught units and supervised dissertations on the Global Online programme since 2019.
Prior to joining the business school, Dr Rowe completed a PhD in Management Learning entitled ‘Exploring the Dance of Team Learning’ at the University of Essex. He was also part of a research team at Cranfield University, investigating effective Service Delivery in Public Private Partnerships through the nurturing of team-working cultures, and co-founded the Construction Management Researchers Network. He has written for the CIPD, published work internationally relating to the subject of reward and has an ongoing interest in time-space rhythms in international working.
As a Lecturer, Dr Rowe enjoys seeing his students engage with research projects that have real resonance in their international working lives, nurturing research skills that will benefit them in their future careers.

Prior to joining Manchester Metropolitan University as a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management, Orestis Papadopoulos spent six years as a Lecturer at Keele University.
With an academic background in political science and industrial relations, Orestis has research interests in areas including employment relations, trade unions, collective bargaining, youth unemployment and the sociology of work.
He has researched the impact of crisis on Greek people with an emphasis on how labour market reforms have affected working conditions and has recently been looking at the violation of labour rights in the UK hotel industry and the application of critical thinking in higher education.
His Global Online teaching has spanned various units including Learning Managing and Developing People, International Human Resource Management, and HR in Context.

Roger is a Senior Lecturer in HRM & Leadership and joined Manchester Metropolitan University in 2004. As well as teaching the International Human Resource Management Unit Roger also supervises the Dissertation unit on the online course alongside teaching postgraduates face to face on the campus course.
Prior to joining the University Roger worked as a manager in a large commercial organisation where he gained substantial experience of implementing many HRM processes.
