About the online course

Our MSc in International Human Resource Management can be completed within 2 years, with a recommended study week of up to 15 hours.

Programmes start in January, May and September.

As part of the Global Online MSc in Human Resource Management programme, you’ll be required to produce a 15,000-word dissertation.

The course is vocational in assessment, which means you’ll also be able to draw on your experience and complete ‘real world’ projects within the workplace throughout.

Academic expertise

The course is delivered by:

Dr Cecilia Ellis – Senior Lecturer, Department of People and Performance.

Dr Cecilia Ellis oversees all Human Resource Management programmes within the Department of Management at Manchester Metropolitan Business School and has taught a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes.

She graduated with an MSc in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations at UMIST in 1997 and went on to take up a wide range of operational and strategic HR roles within the public and private sectors.

Cecilia's research interests are in employment relationships, the psychological contract and redundancy. Her PhD was an investigation into the implications of a workplace closure decision for the psychological contract.

Catherine Jones – Lecturer, Department of People and Performance

Catherine joined Man Met five years ago and is now working as a lecturer. Her teaching and research mostly focus on International Human Resource Management, with secondary subjects of business ethics/corporate social responsibility as well as general business, in which she has delivered online units for four years. In the past, she has also led on academic development at the University of Birmingham, Grenoble Ecole de Management and for a consortium of Nigerian universities. 

For 12 of the past 20 years, she worked in France. Some of this time was spent in industry with big corporations, such as Nissan and Expedia, while some was also spent running her own company. In the UK, she has been an HR and Training Manager at Pitman Training (running contracts with Job Centre Plus among others) and has worked for the NHS, specialising in induction, management training and supporting professionals returning to practice after extended absences. Alongside this, she has worked as an Associate Examiner for the CIPD.

Despite now being based largely in the UK, Catherine still lectures at Lyon INSEEC. In addition, she carries out research in a number of areas around expatriate (global south to global north) and career decision making in couples, where both partners have a high level of education.



Entry requirements

To enrol in the course, you’ll need the following:

  • A UK honours degree (2:2 or above) or an international equivalent
  • OR A minimum of 3 years relevant experience will be considered on a case by case basis

Applicants whose first language is not English (and whose first degree was not taught in English) are required to produce evidence of English language proficiency. We provide a FREE Pearson English test to all applicants if required.
