Global Online academic helps lead the future of sport in Manchester
One of the leading academics on our Global Online MSc in Sport Business, Management and Policy is helping to define the future of sports in the Manchester area.
Professor Jonathan Grix, programme lead for our MSc Sport Business, Management and Policy programme, recently joined over 100 delegates from sporting and corporate organisations to discuss the impact that sport has on Manchester.
Sponsored by the University and hosted by Pro-Manchester, the event, which was held at the Etihad Stadium, brought a wide range of stakeholders together to discuss the impact of sport on Manchester’s hospitality sector, how sporting success can inspire young people and to explore the steps needed to establish the city as a global sporting destination.
Speaking about the event, Professor Grix said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for stakeholders across Manchester to come together and explore the ways that the city’s sporting success can be continued.
“Through our support for local businesses, our ongoing research and our series of new master’s programmes, Manchester Metropolitan is ensuring that sport continues to make a positive and lasting impact on Manchester.”
